CDOT Launches Resources for Project Delivery Planning

Last year, CDOT implemented a process for creating a "Project Delivery Plan" (PDP) for preconstruction, accompanied by various tools and training to help Project Managers, including Consultant PMs. The PDP is based on the framework recommended by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is similar to the project management approach used by several high-performing state DOTs. 

Consultant PMs can find information about how to develop a preconstruction PDP including templates, tools, and other guidance on the PMO website at The site describes the preconstruction project lifecycle, and provides examples for each section of the Project Delivery Plan to help users smoothly navigate through this more systematic and disciplined approach. It is organized by the processes that comprise a project's life-cycle. Similar information related to construction will be added soon.
